Happy Tuesday world! I promise this is my last outfit from San Fran and the next couple weeks will be all about LA. I have been shooting with some AWESOME people out here and I am excited to receive the images to share with you. The locations and clothes and people all have amazing aesthetics and totally different vibes to them. All very inspiring.

Anyhow, this outfits was perfect for a day on Pier 39. The tie up top and the comfy chic shorts were great for wandering around with my sisters and being adventurous. Who doesn’t love a tie-up shirt for Summer time? It’s a must have. Enjoy the rest of your day…and this song below. (It’s an ultimate Summer jam).

Seahorse Ring: Verameat

Crystal bracelet: Torchlight

Being back in LA for a bit has been nothing but amazing. The sunshine, beach, chill people, family, my pups, organic cuisine, living in a house vs. apartment… It makes me want to stay a while. So I am:) Above are photos from the day I went to the Griffith Observatory and enjoyed this amazing view and learned a little about the solar system and science. It’s one of those beautiful yet interesting places. Although I didn’t hike here this time in my pretty girly dress, I definitely will be returning soon with my sisters and pups.

This colorful dress from Wallis is the perfect Summer dress for many occasions-weddings, tea parties, family events or just to wear around town like I did. I swear wearing brighter colors and prints makes you smile more, it can’t be just me. And this beautiful bag with the cutout design is great for everyday use and you can fit EVERTHING you ever needed in life in there. Love me some spacious bags. And lastly can we talk about Paul & Joe? These shoes on my feet are the most beautifully crafted pieces, I consider them art. I want them all.

Royal Respect

Sweatshirt: Royal Respect X Viviere Bella

Shorts: Joe’s Jeans

Hat: Coal Headwear

Sunglasses: Quay Eyeware

Necklace: Jewel Mint

It is finally here! I collaborated with Royal Respect on a sweatshirt and it is now for sale on their website which I linked above. Pretty cool right? I have already worn mine multiple times, the color and fit is perfect. I like it for campfires, coffee dates, walking my pup and grocery shopping but you can really wear it anywhere. My mom thinks it stands for “royal pain in the ass” but obviously I beg to differ:) When I was little she made the mistake of telling me that we were blood related royalty in Malta so ever since I have thought I was a princess… Thanks mom! (I may or may not still have my pink sleeping bag with princess written all over it…awkward.)

Below I placed some inspirational quotes because who doesn’t love some inspiration? Enjoy.

“I’d say that I think the most revolutionary act that you can commit in our society today is to be happy.”-Hunter Doherty “Patch” Adams

“I feel that the most important requirement in success is learning to overcome failure. You must learn to tolerate it, but never accept it.”-Reggie Jackson

“One of the virtues of being very young is that you don’t let the facts get in the way of your imagination. “-Sam Levenson

Top and Pants: Miss Me Couture

Sunglasses: Dolce & Gabbana

Bag: Celine

Shoes: J. Crew

Photos by Marissa Marietta

SO guys, this is what City Hall in San Francisco looks like. I liked how the gates gold detailing matched my sunglasses so we shot here. These pants by Miss Me Couture are so flowy and accentuate your legs, which is never a bad thing. This top is another staple piece for your wardrobe because it goes with pretty much everything. I made this outfit a little funky by pairing orange pants with a pop of green but it works right?

Polaroids

Sweater: Gypsy 05

Shorts: Gentlefawn

Photos by Marissa Marietta

This outfit is simple but great for lounging around, running errands, walking the pup or shopping. These shorts from Gentlefawn are so comfy, I’ve literally been living in them. This neutral sweater from Gypsy 05 is also another great piece that goes with everything and I wear all the time, love their collections.

We shot this in the San Francisco apartment we rented for a week through Airbnb.com. My sisters and I thought it would be more fun to have a little home for a week rather than stay in a hotel and we were SO happy to have made that choice. I had my old bestie Courtney come over with her bf and we cooked dinner one night and just enjoyed hanging out in our little abode. Okay fine I didn’t cook at all, but I did pour the vino and entertain:) And yes as you can tell in these photos, I do love tea.

Why are polaroids so cool?

Coit Tower has been standing since 1933 and has one of the most spectacular views of San Francisco as you can see. However, with my severe ADD this was fun for about 7.5 seconds. Moving on…

This dress by Ella Moss is another great travel and Summer piece. The flowy blue material with a hint of sparkle is so my jam. I paired this turtle scarf by Yarnz with the look because it gets a bit nippy at the top of the tower. AAAnd I’m obsessed with this piece.

Happy Sunday FUNDAY.

Sweater Weather

Sweater: Ash Rain + Oak

Shorts: BB Dakota

Shoes: OTZ Shoes

Necklace: Karen London

Phone case: Boostcase

Sunglasses: Silvano

Photos by Marissa Marietta

Lombard street is really fun to drive on, may have made my sisters join me 3 or so times… Closest thing to an amusement park in the city, besides bowling which we did at the Presidio, which was a last minute call but so fun. (So many brews and military men, things could have been worse.) But anyways as you can see Lombard Street is the windiest street in the states with 8 sharp turns within a block radius. It’s like go carting but real life.

This sweater from Ash Rain + Oak is everything. I love the vibrant color and cut that is so comfy but you can pair it with so many different pieces. Throw it over a dress, pair it with some shorts, pants or a skirt. Pretty much anything. And the print on these shorts by BB Dakota is gorg, they actually inspired me to paint today. Woohoo for inspiration! And lastly, these shoes by OTZ…they are SO yellow and make me happy. Comfy and cute. You  know I love it.

Also, get ready because my series/column for Global Grind is coming out this next week! I’m beyond excited to be working with them so stay tuned:)

Empress of China

Dress: Miss Me Couture

Headphones: Rock Revival

Bag: Big Buddah from YesWalker.com

Necklace: Love + Leather

Bracelet: Alexander McQueen

Photos by Marissa Marietta

There is no Chinatown like San Francisco’s Chinatown. A place where there are way too many stores with the exact same things but it’s fun to wander around and buy stuff you will never use (hashtag tourists). But wait, most importantly, I bought a ring with a scorpion inside…How bad ass am I?  There was this one store that looked small from the outside but then you go inside and BOOM it’s a three floored Chinatown Costco. Not quite but they had a ton of Chinese trinkets and I was tempted to buy one of those Chinese dragons they use in parades, but you need like 5 people to carry it and I only had my two wimpy sisters with me. Sigh…

This dress by Miss Me Couture is a piece that is so easy to throw on and perfect to wear day-to-night. And who wouldn’t look amazing in this dress? The cut is comfortable and still sexy with the sheer sleeves. I decided to funk it up and throw on some Chucks and headphones. These headphones by Rock Revival are actually my new favorites. I was actually listening to music the whole time we shot this. Always in my own world.

First day in San Francisco! I’ve concluded that SF is a mixture of LA and NY due to the weather, pace and people. If I could teleport (I have a big imagination, I know) I would wake up in LA to tan, relax and shop then at around 2 PM I would hang in San Francisco, maybe run the Golden Gate Bridge and then teleport to New York to have dinner and party all night. I’m in love with each city for different reasons, can you blame me? Then again I tend to love something about every place I travel to, it’s excessive.

Anyways the first day we went to Union Square, the Ferry Building/Market and then the Embarcadero Fountain. Union Square is surrounded by some of the best shopping and restaurants, reminded me a lot of New York. The Ferry Building is like no other, perfect place to have lunch or dinner with a ton of organic places(my jam). And this huge fountain by the Ferry Building was honestly really fun to look at. I give props to whoever designed it because I was definitely intrigued.

These pants from ShopJoa.com with the leopards on them are great for traveling, lunch dates, sight seeing and pretty much everything. They are perfectly lightweight for that cool breeze during Summer time in the bay area. I paired this shirt, which is one of my favorite shades of blue, and this amazing Krisa jacket to finish off the look. As you can see I am really into hats lately, who isn’t? It completes any look. Until next time.

I finally had the chance to visit my Grandpa George and Grandma Jan up in the bay area last week with my sisters. What a relaxing and fun weekend full of eating, go carting, more eating, laughing until we cry, enjoying my grandparents company and getting a tour of his car collection. (One of Grandpa’s hobbies is restoring hot rods as well as cars and then adding a ton of horsepower to them, a TON). Their pup you see in the photos above, Daisy Mae, entertained us all as well and joined me for some photos as you can see. (How photogenic is she?!) My grandparents are both a huge inspiration for me and I appreciate their support through everything. We text and call each other every week which is really important, so if you haven’t called up your grandparents in a while, pick up the phone.

My Grandpa George started a rehab center 19 years ago and helps people recover every day from drug addictions, alcoholism, gambling problems, anger management and many other issues. The fact that he helps people better themselves everyday is such an inspiration. This year they named a building after him and I couldn’t be a more proud granddaughter. They say “behind every great man there is a great woman” and I believe this is 100% true. My Grandma Jan or “toots” as Grandpa calls her, inspires me to be the best wife and grandma one day. I am truly grateful for my relationship with them. <3 Ok I’m done being sappy:)

This sweater by Ash Rain + Oak is the perfect shade of blue and ideal for those overcast days. I paired this piece with some white shorts and my new favorite hat by Coal Headwear. This style hat is perfect for sunny days, bad hair days and overcast days. Basically, you need this piece in your closet.

Zen With Me

“Just as your car runs more smoothly and requires less energy to go faster and farther when the wheels are in perfect alignment, you perform better when your thoughts, feelings, emotions, goals, and values are in balance.”

– Brian Tracy

Here is another quote my dad shared with me recently and I think it applies to everyone. With the world moving at such a fast pace it is important to straighten out your thoughts and think in a space where you are not disturbed by outside influences and distractions. Just take a couple of minutes or hours to soak in the beauty around you and sort out YOUR priorities, goals and values.

Getting my zen on in the Japanese Tea Garden in San Francisco with my sisters was an amazing and relaxing experience. Everything from the intricate detailing on the structures to the lush, green gardens were all so perfect. I’m a big tea drinker so I had to check out this beautiful attraction and let me tell you, their Jasmine green tea is a 10. And you guys… they had Japanese Koi. You know I love creatures and these koi were massive and beautiful. #naturelover

This romper by Black Halo is such a sophisticated piece perfect for day and night time. The fit is figure flattering and so comfortable because you have the luxury of sitting however you want, wherever you want. Aka you don’t have to worry about crossing your legs. The quality of this piece is extremely high and the tailoring is perfect. I paired a baby blue clutch to finish off the look and matched some nude Seychelles.

Conch for My Donk

Dress: Heather

Sunglasses: Quay Eyeware

Necklace: Love + Leather

My last day at Seven Stars Resort in Turks was a relaxing one. What an amazing experience full of sun, sand and adventure. (And for those of you who don’t know, “conch” is pronounced “konk” and it is the sea snail that we ate pretty much everyday. Aaand I don’t need to explain donk.)

This dress by Heather is another perfect maxi dress for vacay. It’s flowy in all the right places and I love the two-tone detail. I added this necklace by Love + Leather which is a piece I wear all the time because it dresses up an outfit but it isn’t too flashy.

Have an amazing week people!

Perks of Turks

 Dress: Flynn Skye

Sunglasses: Dolce & Gabbana

Seahorse ring: Verameat

This may have been my favorite day in the beautiful Turks & Caicos, definitely one I will never forget. We rented an island where we could see and hear no one, except the soothing sound of the waves and the occasional iguanas rustling around. (Somehow I still had cell phone service? Is that even real life? Not mad at it). In the morning they dropped us off by boat with some food, champagne and snorkeling gear and they give you a cell phone to call them when you are ready to be picked up. Our Captain said “Whatever happens on the island stays on the island.” It was the perfect place to sort through my thoughts and think about life. I had a hippie moment. (I have many hippie moments, I’m slightly free spirited…)

This dress by one of my favorite brands, Flynn Skye, was perfect for this day. It is what I like to call comfortably chic. I’m a big fan of maxi dresses and this one is the perfect flattering fit because you can cinch it at the waist to give you a little shape. I paired these Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses with the look to add a little bit of glam. Don’t they look like queen sunglasses? Love them.

The Green Light in Her Eyes

“The Green Light in Her Eyes” is an editorial inspired by the simply extraordinary and passionately beautiful novel and movie The Great Gatsby written by F. Scott Fitzgerald. A fictional novel about the roaring 20’s, specifically the summer of 1922, in which the mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby and the love of his life Daisy Buchanan are reunited in West Egg, Long Island after being separated for five years. Daisy, already being married to another millionaire Tom Buchanan, sees Gatsby for the first time and longs to be with him, her first love whom she never stopped loving.

Gatsby had immediately fallen in love with Daisy’s aura of luxury, grace and charm before he was sent off to the war. She promised to wait for him to return, however Gatsby knew he could not return until he had acquired a lifestyle that was suitable for her. He dedicated his life to reinventing himself and achieving an extravagant lifestyle to impress Daisy in the hopes of winning her back and sharing their life together. Five years later he finally returned and purchased a gaudy mansion across the bay from which she lived and threw lavish parties every weekend in the hopes that she would stroll into one of them.

Before the two lovers were reunited Gatsby spent many nights staring at the green light at the end of her dock, across the bay from his mansion, hoping to one day rekindle their lost romance. Once they had rekindled their passionate love Daisy begins to crave him and has an affair, leaving her confused and overwhelmed.

One of the main themes of the novel is that Gatsby is longing for the “green light” which represents Daisy. In a sense they both had “green” in their eyes, hers being greed and his being Daisy. Love is blindness.

——————–

This is an editorial I creative directed, styled and modeled. I worked with an AMAZING team including photographer Chris Vongsawat, hair and make up artist Joanna McDonald and illustrator Helen Ting. As you can see I was seriously inspired by “The Great Gatsby”, these things excite me so. I created this editorial to share with the world and I am going to start creating more themed editorials while in Los Angeles this next month so keep a look out!
